Advocate for Delhi NCR — which court, which High Court, how to start

Delhi NCR spans three states, so the right court depends on where you live and where the dispute arose — not on where your lawyer sits. Here is how it works, and how Advocate Aayush Agarwal can help from the Gurugram and Meerut offices.

Where to file depends on your facts

For a Hindu divorce, a petition can be filed where the marriage took place, where the other spouse lives, or where the couple last lived together (Section 19, Hindu Marriage Act). For most civil disputes the court is where the defendant lives or where the cause of action arose. For consumer complaints, the 2019 Act lets you file where you live. An advocate enrolled with a State Bar Council can practise in courts across India, so the useful question is which court has jurisdiction over your dispute.

If you live in one city and work in another

Many NCR families live in Noida or Ghaziabad and work in Gurugram or Delhi. That is exactly where filing in the wrong district causes delay. Bring the address history of both spouses, where the property is, and where any agreement was signed, and we will map the correct forum before anything is filed.

Frequently asked questions

Do you appear in Delhi courts?

Advocate Aayush Agarwal is enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi. Under Section 30 of the Advocates Act, an enrolled advocate may practise in courts across India. Which court you file in is decided by your facts.

I live in Noida and work in Gurugram. Where should I file?

It depends on the type of case. For divorce, usually where you last lived together or where the other spouse lives. For a civil dispute, where the defendant lives or the dispute arose. Share your facts and we will tell you the right court at the first consultation.

Which office should I contact?

Either. The Gurugram branch office (SG City, Sector 92) and the Meerut head office both offer free initial consultations, and phone, WhatsApp or video consultations are available from anywhere.
